Lecture Series Begins at Alcorn

A film series with a multictural focus began on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 with the screening of the film Sankofa. The film was introduced by Africanist Hannibal Afrique who also answered questions after the films conclusion.
This started a montly lecture series with a multicultural theme which continued on August 22 with an lecture by Dr. Thomas Porter of the History department at North Carolina A&T. Dr. Porter has conducted research in Russia and the Soviet union and spoke on the redefintion of the Russian national character since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
