But, is there such a thing as too much Internet? Can one be too addictive with the usage of Internet? Nowadays, with widely used friend-networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace, it seems a bit hard to turn away from the computer. In this century, it's tough to find an individual who doesn't own a Facebook, Myspace, hi5, Tag, Tengo, Flixter, or whatever website one uses to connect with family members and friends. Some individuals even own more than one of these accounts.
I used to own a Myspace account as well, that is until people kept hacking into my account and post ludicrous messages on my friend's profile pages. And it is sad to say, that Myspace used to take up most of my time, trying to make my profile look cooler than others.
What is it that attracts such a mass of people to these particular sites? Is it the fact that one is able to express their creativity through these sites? Or is it simply just a way to keep in touch? Whatever the reason, the certain individuals who create these websites are now millionaires thanks to the many masses of people who participate in these particular sites. According to an article by Yahoo.com, it states that, "Ashley, a young teen, is now the head of whateverlife.com, a website she started when she was just 14 - with eight dollars borrowed from her mother. Now, just three years later, the website grosses more than $1 million a year." And what is her business you ask? Making layout backgrounds for Myspace users to use on their own profiles.
The Internet has many uses to one's daily life. You could watch a movie, do a research paper, gain biographical information on a particular individual, listen to tunes, or even express your inner creativity through different websites, and possibly get rich, but is the Internet taking over your daily life?
The next time you log onto your computer and into a Myspace account, you might want to think about how many useless hours you might spend trying to update your profile, when you could be doing something much more useful.
