Potty Training 101

"Use the bathroom, wipe yourself, flush the toilet, wash your hands." This is the mantra I repeated over and over to my daughter while I was potty training her. Now, at age of six, she has the routine down pat. Apparently, I can't say that for many college students here on the campus of Alcorn State University .
Throughout bathrooms across the campus, signs can be found reminding students to flush the toilets. I personally have seen these signs in the Industrial Technology Building, the Library, and the Math and Science Building . The Math and Science Building is one of the newer buildings on campus and the bathrooms are some of the dirtiest. One of the secretaries felt the need to post on the back of every stall door a long letter explaining why you should keep the bathroom clean and flush the toilet. When I first saw this note, there was more tissue on the floors than in the stalls and 3 of the 4 toilets were in need of flushing.
Ladies (and that's what college-age females are supposed to be), show some pride and respect when using the bathrooms on campus. Treat them like you would your bathrooms at home. I'm sure your parents aren't waiting for you to come out of the bathroom and asking "Did you flush the toilet?" No one should have to post signs reminding adults to flush the toilet after each use. I would hate to have flashbacks to potty training my daughter and start cheering and handing out stickers when a grown woman manages to successfully "use the bathroom, wipe yourself, flush the toilet and wash your hands."
