To the students, alumni, faculty, and staff of Alcorn State University,

Let me just express my sincere gratitude towards the student body and everyone who supported me in this extraordinary process. I am more than grateful to be granted the opportunity to represent such a fine institution built on rich heritage and culture. In regards, I do not take this position lightly. During my campaign, I gurarnteed to be honest, hardworking, and diligent to the concerns that improve our well being as students, faculty and staff. As the elected Miss Alcorn State University 2008, I have intentions of doing just that. This position grants me the opportunity to work hand in hand with the new president in making progressive decisions in order to make our institution an enjoyable, enriching, and satisfying experience for years to come. I see this positon also as a platform for the voice of the student body to be heard as it relates to bridging the gap between student and administration. As Miss Alcorn State University, the voice and face of the entire university, it is my duty to be of primary service to the institution. Serving others is one of my greatest missions in life, and within that service, I plan to do great things. Within Alcorn State, I plan to address the issues of socially unifying the various cultures we have here on campus. Although we are a predominantly black college, we must still recognize the non-traditional and international students that help make up the university. Creating activities and events for students who live far from home and/or those who remain on campus during the weekends, is what I strive to accomplish for the upcoming school year as well.
In addtion, I have intentions of speaking out on the concerns of better security, student enrollment, health & safety, completion of student yearbooks, and living accomodations. Currently, there are projects in process to better improve the living conditions here on campus. As of service, I intend to make sure sure these projects are carried out and completed in a timely manner. There's so much to be done and with the newly elected officers for the Student Government Association, it is more than possible that the desired changes expected for the new year will be taken into serious consideration. I truly believe that Alcorn State University has potential to be one of the top rated college institutions located in the United States. I don't believe in being mediocre or let alone average; it is time we dream big and be open to changes that will set ourselves apart from others. This is the year we make history! Thank you for electing me as your Miss Alcorn State University 2008 and trusting me to represent us as we take this university to higher heights in this upcoming year and
beyond.!

Yours Truly,
Inneka Minor
