Football,Volleyball Team Work Together with Community Service

Alcorn State's football and volleyball team traveled to Fayette, MS, to participate in community service. They where accompanied by Coach Jason Cable. The day started with a visit to Jefferson County Middle School's Boys and Girls Club. Where the Braves' football team took the boys out to the field to play football and teach them the fundamentals of the game.
Alcorn States cornerback Rod Williams and running back Davaris Pilcher started the boys with team exercise. They were then put in teams for a game of football. Offense lineman Bronson Carvalho, linebacker Thomas Moore and wide receiver Michael Simmons also had the boys racing on teams, catching passes and teaching them how to run live football plays. The Braves' football team taught the kids how important it is to work together as a team.
Meanwhile on the sidelines, the volleyball team Eric Pratcher, Jasmine Hales, Jessica Frierson, and Ashlyn Holmes had gathered the girls to talk to them about how important it is to have good grades in school and to set there goals in life. After all the fun and games, the football and volleyball team prepared the food for the kids and talked to the kids about life's obstacle that they had to overcome to achieve there goals. Eric Pratcher talked to kids about the importance of education in the route to success and Davaris Pilcher expressed to students the importance of staying focused in life.
